Sarbon hotel is a small family run hotel near University parkway. The hotel is located within walking proximity to major historical landmarks of Uzbekistan and it will take a tourist 15 minutes to walk to Gur-Emir mausoleum, 25 minutes to famous Registan and 10 minutes to the central park of Samarkand. The location is in a good residential area so you would have a chance to see a day-to-day life of ordinary Uzbeks. Be aware that the hotel is very poorly signposted and at night is might be a real adventure finding it since the area is neither lit nor asphalted.
Sarbon is a nice, well-appointed and quiet hotel. The hotel has 15 comfortable rooms, including 1 single, 12 doubles and 2 triples. Upstairs are four standard rooms and one deluxe. All the rooms are quite spacious but the deluxe room in the middle is just enormous.
Each room has a shower and a toilet, the hair dryer, the conditioner, satellite TV with a lot of channels, mineral water for each person. The rooms are comfortable, new looking and decorated in a pleasant local style but the furniture is a bit worn and outdated. The bathrooms on the other hand are rather small.
The staff is pleasant and smiling, extremely friendly and polite. The owner speaks very good French.
Breakfast is good by local standards, is in Russian style and is served in the basement. There is summer restaurant, which is decorated in national style. Guests can taste national and European cuisine. Sometimes when the weather is bad or raining you can ask staff to make for you some small dishes to eat in your room.
Not the ideal location, mediocre standards of service. There are better alternatives in Samarkand
