The architecture of the Tashkent Metro is one of the most beautiful in the world, and it is a traditional destination for tourists and guests...
Hotels
Rovshan Hotel was built in 1999 and has been renovated in 2006; it was one of the first private hotels in Tashkent, located in a small street in the corner between Mirabad and Nukus street. This is a medium size hotel quite close to everything in downtown Tashkent. Cozy location, reasonable prices, good conditions and polite staff attract many tourists and businessmen. Hotel is located in the quiet part of the city centre, close to major business and state buildings, 10 minute drive from Tashkent International Airport, North Railway Station and "Oybek" underground station. A short walk will take you to a set of local cafes and restaurants offering a wide choice of local, Armenian and European cuisine. The Russian Embassy is nearby and could be a good orienting point when instructing the taxi driver where to go. Mirabad Market is also nearby where guests can buy fresh fruits, spices and local style home-made bread. There also a few pubs nearby on Ivliev street where you can enjoy a beer. You are in walking distance (15 min walk) to Ming Orik/Oybek metro station.
Rovshan hotel has 47 cosy rooms; each of them has phone, satellite television, a bathroom and the conditioner. The rooms themselves are rather small, and the ones on the top floor are best avoided since they are even smaller due to a slanted side with only a very small window in it. Slight problem might be sound-isolation of the doors, with staff or other guests might waking you up early moving around and talking in the corridors outside. Ground floor rooms close to the reception could be noisy, try to avoid them, so your best bet would actually be the first floor.
Staff are friendly, most of them speak decent English and they can assist with your requests such as arranging transfer to/from airport, tours, recommend activities and restaurants, bazaars, nightclubs, etc. This hotel is not glamorous, but the rooms are clean and secure. You will enjoy your stay if you are looking to mix in with the locals and catch the flavour of the country.
Rovshan hotel is very tidy and well maintained. Rooms are serviced and towels changed on a daily basis. There is a nice garden where you can relax on the colourful Uzbek beds/tapchans. There is free Wi-Fi and signal is strong in every room.
There is buffet-breakfast at the hotel mainly with the basic Uzbek food (bread, cheeses, meats, jams, yoghurt, and some warm dishes, typically omelettes and/or pancakes), but it's quite refilling. Pancakes are very good with sour cherry syrup & lashings of fresh cream! The restaurant of the hotel offers you dishes of European and national cuisine. Here you can hold friendly or business meetings, organize banquet, buffet, coffee-breaks, lunch and dinner, to celebrate birthdays, or arrange parties for children. The restaurant is decorated in national style, has 50 seats.
Basic hotel with good location, clean and tidy rooms, helpful and kind staff, acceptable rates. What else is needed? Of course there are better hotels like Uzbekistan or Grand Mir but they also much more expensive. A good choice! Recommended!
