Hotels
This modern looking hotel is located in the modern part of town, quite a way from Registan Square (15-20 min walk). It is near old city with access to Bazaar, shops and restaurants. Hotel is simple and clean. No frills here, but that's to be expected. Around the hotel there are a few restaurants, boutiques and a typical Soviet department store which makes it worth seeing. Across the street you find a supermarket. On top there is a good gym just on the opposite side of the street.
Lobby is large and impressive and hints of that Soviet grandeur. There are two glass elevators that take you to the rooms and there are comfortable couches and a bar in the lobby area.
The rooms are clean and comfortable enough, but unexciting and tired as are the communal areas. The pillows are large and hard. There is no top sheet on the bed - only the bedspread and a heavy duvet. Hotel is also on a busy road, so ask for an inward facing room.
Breakfast is mediocre, there are some nice restaurants in the vicinity on the back street.
Green yard with big pool which is good for summer but seems to be busy by locals. The reception staff are not very helpful and seems to be uninterested and unmotivated.
The wifi is limited to the reception area so gets extremely crowded when large groups try to get online.
The bonus is that staff are friendly and work well despite the limitations that they have to work with.
Just an average hotel a bit away from the beautiful sights of the city. There are hotels with better location and service.
