Mekhnat Hotel
Mekhnat hotel is located in a green area of Chilanzar district in Tashkent. The place is not central and you would need to use a taxi or take underground to get to more central areas. But taxis are damned cheap, and if you have ability to bargain (or ask the hotel staff to help you) this will not cost you more than $2-3 a ride. Mirzo Ukugbek metro station is a 20-minute walk from Mekhnat Hotel.
Mekhnat Hotel is quite nice and clean. Rooms are quite small, but clean. No special decor, just a private space to spend a night or two. All rooms come complete with a flat-screen TV, a refrigerator and a private bathroom.
Apartment room is quite nice and has 2 bedrooms plus guestroom combined with the kitchen. Apartment kitchen is well equipped with large fridge, washing machine, gas cooker, electric kettle and set of plates. No microwave though. There is a small bazaar across the road where you can buy fresh vegs and fruits if you fancy cooking, plus there are a number of small cheap eateries around serving national Uzbek food.

Breakfast is very basic - rice/semolina/buckwheat porridge on a milk, eggs, sausage, cheese and bread, same every day.
Staff is undertrained and most of them hardly speak English. But they are quite friendly and attentive.
There is a large 50-metre swimming pool in the open air in summer months. The pool is actually a community pool and not just for people staying at the hotel. Still the pool is quite nice if you don't mind sharing with the locals. Guests can relax in a comfortable sauna and cool off in the small indoor pool. There is a very basic fitness center, laundry service is also available but make sure to agree the price before ordering the service. Free Wi-Fi internet access is available.
Gates in Mekhnat hotel are closed for the night but guests can easily get access at any time.
Generally a good hotel worth considering on your visit to Tashkent.
