Hotels
Hotel Malika-Kheivak is located in the center of Ichan-Kala, just in front of the West gate of the Inner city, between architectural and historical monuments such as Ensemble Islam-Khodji (20th c.). One could hardly get a better location within the city walls since then you are as central as you can be.
Hotel itself is very basic. This is an average hotel for local standards but gets extra points simply for its perfect location which makes it a good starting point for exploring the ancient city. It is inside the city walls and you can walk everywhere since the entire city is mostly a pedestrian zone. You can spend time strolling outside the gates, through the bazaar where a number of locals shops specializing in locally produced handicrafts. Malika-Kheivak hotel is part of the well known in Uzbekistan Malika hotels chain.
There are two types of rooms in the hotel: standard and luxe. Modern and comfortable rooms are equipped with refrigerator & air-conditioner. Beds could seem to some tourists slightly hard but they are still comfortable. All rooms are spotlessly clean. There is spread round a courtyard on 2 floors, all are of decent size, well appointed, look cozy and feel very comfortable. The water pressure in the bathroom is almost non-existent. The front rooms look over a large open space to the impressive city gates. They don't provide any bottles of water in the room, you have to purchase them from the front desk.
The breakfast buffet is very basic and have a limited variety of foods. You can eat delicious meals outside in a nice garden. The garden is a lovely restful spot to eat or linger where they have both tables to eat at and "platform beds" with cushions and shade to just chill out on. Food is limited in variety but of good quality and is very delicious. The Hotel has a very good bar/ garden area where you can get a beer( bottled only) and have a meal so good as so you wouldn't want to eat or drink anywhere else- good value. There are restaurants nearby the hotel where you can also have all types of meals.
Malika Kheivak hotel offers free wireless and dining in a lovely outdoor setting where you can lounge on day beds and stare up at the nearby minaret. Good cheap laundry service.
Very basic hotel but within the historical city wall. The staff are particularly friendly and helpful. Will do for a short stay but there are definitely better hotels outside of the city.
