Hotels
Le Grande Plaza Hotel is located in the busy and prime area of Tashkent city. This hotel enjoys a distinct location advantage and is acclaimed the ideal retreat for travelers visiting Tashkent on tourist or business purpose. Hotel is very quiet as it has good gardens around.
Hotel is close to all main tourist attractions. Lot of museums, parks, restaurants and night spots are within walking proximity. Close to the metro and within walking distance to splendid Bahor Restaurant. Being at a prominent place it is easy to get around for walks during morning or evening hours. Amir Temur square is also at a walking distance.
The hotel has Indian owners and often caters for a large groups from India, so don't be surprised to think that you are in India instead of Uzbekistan
The hotel's reception area is light and huge with a welcoming sitting area and bar, where one can sit after a long day at work or exploring the Tashkent. There are three elevators at the hotel, one of which is the staff lift, and normally only one of the remaining two works. So it is very common that you wait for 5 minutes and when the lift is in your floor you find it full, and wait for another five minutes or more.
The top 2 floors has been seriously renovated and updated. There are much better class rooms up there than in the rest of the hotel rooms, but those come for much cheaper, so you have both choices: the top class expensive rooms as well as value for money rooms. Be aware that bathrooms have only shower there. Still, if you are ready to pay a bit more try to avoid rooms on lower floors which are smaller in size, worn and can have mostly dysfunctional equipment. Bathroom, carpet, bed linens, towels, etc. are all very aged and dirty. Higher floor rooms get better as if you are literally going to heaven. Reasonably clean and sound-proof, better TV, better bathroom, all better.
There are tea & coffee facilities in the rooms. Some rooms have balconies and provide a good view of the surroundings. Better try to get room on 7th or 8th floor facing Amir Temur Square so as to get better view of outside areas from the balcony. Rooms are large and well-appointed by European standards
Staff is very friendly and customer oriented, all speak English pretty well, but their efforts cannot really make up for the need to renovate and update most of this hotel.
Breakfast is good with a range of hot dishes, cold meats and cheese, fruit, cereal, bread and pastries. Lot of Indian specialities for breakfast since the hotel specialises in accommodating large groups from India.
The hotel has a range of restaurants including a bistro, an Indian restaurant and a Korean/Chinese/Japanese restaurant, plus a cafe/bar. Gym is good and well equipped but can be not cool enough in the summer time and have a stuffy air. Good Wi-Fi coverage throughout the hotel premises, but speed varies from time to time.
Good location, good service, value for money rates. Avoid lower floors, book refurbished rooms and you will be pleased.
