Hotels
Emir Khan is a smallish hotel on three floors located around a twenty minute easy walk to the Registan. However, there are not much to see nearby with only mini markets and pharmacies on both side of the streets. There are also very few nearby eating options and the hotel itself doesn't do food beyond breakfast.
Lobby is secluded, apart from a reception desk stuck on one corner behind a pillar there are none of the kinds of things you would expect to find in a hotel - no bar, no useful information about the city, nothing for sale.
The decoration is very over the top with lots of colour and detail...it makes it visually quite different. All the rooms have a large supply of gold plated plumbing which certainly makes the whole place very distinctive. Even the shower, pipe and hangers are gold colored. The rooms are comfortable and the facilities fine. The beds are very firm and this could be an issue for some people.
The other problem was that the walls were paper-thin
They have swimming pool, not big but it is enough, also very clean. Missing some place to take sun near swimming pool, to lie down and relax!
Staff very polite and friendly.
The breakfast is served at the very bottom of the hotel, one floor below where the lift stops. Breakfast is OK without being special.
Authentic decoration, polite and careful staff, good services, clean and comfortable rooms are points which make this hotel a good option for the time you may visit beautiful Samarkand. Overall a reasonable choice at a decent price.
