Hotels
City Hotel is situated in the most beautiful, green and quiet area of Samarkand - University Boulevard. The two floor building would suit a modest traveler who doesn’t fancy luxury and unnecessary. The best thing about this hotel is its location, downtown, within walking distance to the worldwide famous architectural monuments of ancient Samarkand such as mausoleum of Amir Temur and Registan Square. This modern hotel is well kept and quite comfortable. Its standard would be equivalent to a good Western European 3 stars hotel.
The staff at reception is extremely polite and friendly and speaks English and French (as well as Russian of course). The hotel seems particularly popular with German and Japanese tour operators.Wifi works fine, though the closer to the lobby the better.
Accommodation at City hotel
The lobby is spacious and very clean with nice marble floors. City hotel has 10 single, 10 double, one triple room and two suites, all designed in European style and equipped with air conditioners, bath, satellite TV and IDD phones. Due to frequent and short power cut-offs in Samarkand each room has accumulator-running lamp.Friendly and polite staff is always ready to render assistance in any matter.Rooms are impeccably clean and comfortable.
Dining at City hotel
Breakfast is quite good (try the Fresh pancakes in particular!). The breakfast is the standard buffet breakfast, with white bread, cheese and salami, boiled eggs and fresh fruit (water melon cubes, grapes, apples etc). They serve breakfast at the hotel but that is all. However there are places to eat within a 10 minute walk of the hotel.
