Hotels
The hotel is in a great location next to Bibikhanum mosque and medressa with wonderful views from the terrace upstairs. The location is quiet being off the pedestrian Tashkent street - however bear in mind it is almost impossible for taxi drivers to reach it by car when dropping you off and when you want a taxi you have to either walk through to the chaotic bus station on the other side of the Siob market or do the 10 minute walk back up to the Registan. The hotel is in fact in the middle of the route between Registon and Shahi Zinda. Dinner options near the hotel are limited. A choyxona or two is all you'll find. But mostly the location makes up for a lot of the niggles.
The hotel is niceley decorated in a tradtional style but it's not exagerrated. There are ground level and second level rooms. All of them open into the courtyard. The view from the second floor is amazing and you can see the Bibihanum Mosque.
The rooms are good size, spotlessly clean and bathrooms are quite OK. There is AC in bedrooms although no fridge or kettle. No water bottles offered in room. The rooms lack atmosphere
The breakfast terrace is lovely but the breakfast buffet is underwhelming with some egg dish and pancakes as well as fruit, cheese, meat, salad and juices. Fresh grapes served from their own vine. Also a toaster available. Sitting having breakfast overlooking the beautiful blue domes is absolutely incredible! You can also have lunch or dinner on the second floor in an air conditioned room. Having a beer on the roof top at the end of the day is great.
The staff is very friendly and helpful when asked but don't tend to be pro-active.
Set amidst history & culture. With such a beautiful setting one can't help thinking that with some small improvements and attention to detail it could be a beautiful boutique hotel!
