Hotels
Asia Khiva Hotel is located just outside Ichan-Qala, hotel provides comfortable accommodation in western style. In short words, this is just one of the best available hotels in Khiva. Staff is very helpful and eager to assist; they care for any of your requests. Asia Khiva hotel is just outside the old city - a five minutes’ walk from the centre. The position is excellent with a wonderful view on the walls around Ichan-Qala. The hotel specializes in group bookings though they do care for individual travelers as well.
The location is directly opposite the South Gate and although it appears a little dark and uninviting at night it is only a 3 minutes walk past a small residential area into the old town itself. There are few street lights so coming back in the dark can be a problem however house lights and a torch help. In general hotel is very clean, the rooms are of good size, security is constant and breakfast is fine. There are no particular services, only a small shop at the entrance, near the reception. The front garden is a somewhat overgrown medley of flowers reminiscent of a country garden. The hotel is quite large for Khiva and consists of several blocks. A new block faces the side road. The Asia Khiva hotel does have some outside space around a swimming pool and has a bar. The hotel is in need of an update although that didn't affect the availability of basics such as hot water, a reasonably comfortable bed, bathing and lavatory facilities.
Hotel consists of two buildings one built in 2004 and other in 2007, offering 43 double (with shower & bathtub) and 16 single (with just shower) rooms that are equipped with AC, mini fridge, Satellite TV, direct dial phone. Hotel is distinguished for its large, comfortable and nicely furnished rooms. Get a second floor room with a balcony facing the old city. The rooms themselves are large but dated and not particularly comfortable but then there is the view.
The breakfast is a downside, service chaotic, menu scarce. A hotel of this magnitude could make its own coffee, instead of putting a bowl of Nescafe crystals by a pot of hot water. There is a buffet restaurant and a bar. Restaurant is good and quite cheap with delicious food. Though they cater mostly for tour groups. Soo travelers complain to be outrageously overcharged, so check menu before ordering to avoid exploitation. Food is decent, service is somewhat chaotic.
Mini bar is a bit expensive. Evening buffet and the breakfast is the best selection. You can also eat at the Art Cafe in the old town near the art museum; they serve one of the best food in Khiva.
There is a business center. The hotel also features a conference hall which can accommodate 40 people.
This is probably the only hotel in Khiva with a swimming pool. It's a nice pool and refreshing to dip in and out of. They charge around 5$ per hour, though you can agree for 10$ for a session, just bargain.
A comfortable hotel within easy reach of all that needs to be seen in Khiva. It's, supposedly, best or second to best in Khiva, take it; Khiva makes the effort worthy! Service is on a downside, but again for the service better go to smaller boutique hotels that are family run and treat the guests as their own friends. For a short stay of 2 to 3 days, the hotel fits the bill.
