Arkanchi hotel is unique in terms of its location within the ancient walled city just a minute walk to Kalta minaret. The hotel is built in traditional style and has a certain charm. The hotel is right in front of the old town, relatively close to the heart of Khiva: Ichan Kala, pretty modern and well decorated. It's not a top notch accommodation but definitely not bad, nothing fancy, but quite adequate and good value for money.

The rooms of the hotel are good size, with air conditioning, clean and furniture is new. You’ll have a great time in this warm and cute hotel. In the wooden main building the rooms appear to be all of different sizes. The bathrooms are spotless and water pressure excellent. Rooms are spacious with high ceilings.  The beds could have been firmer; bed mattress is soft so some guests claim that they can feel the springs on their back. The walls are thin and not sound-proof, so sometime one could hear the neighbors and the people talking loud at the reception desk. First-floor rooms are quieter with better views.  2nd floor rooms above reception have nice view to old city Khiva.

The staff is all very attentive and helpful; hotel also provides lunches and evening meals which should be ordered in advance. Breakfast is excellent, but inclines to be more of "western" than Uzbek way. In general, the breakfast is fair comprising of the usual Uzbek breakfast fare of tea, eggs, fruit juice and bread.

 Room service is prompt. Wifi a little slow but reliable. They provide bikes for rent, so one could easily do biking tour in inner and outside of Ichan Kala.

Arkanchi is a reasonable hotel in a great location with adequate rooms. For a 3-star hotel it couldn't be faulted. Highly recommended.
