An online B2B meeting between tour operators of Uzbekistan and Malaysia was organized at the Embassy of Uzbekistan on 19 July 2022.
The event was attended by the Advisor to the Minister of Tourism and Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan Temur Mirzaev, Deputy President of the Malaysian Association of Travel Companies and Tour Operators (MATTA) Mohd Akil Bin Mohd Yusuf, representatives of more than 100 travel companies of Uzbekistan and Malaysia.
The rich cultural heritage and tourism potential of Uzbekistan and comprehensive measures being taken to develop tourism infrastructure and the hospitality industry in Uzbekistan were presented to the Malaysian side. Uzbek side informed about the successful launch of a new modern Samarkand International Airport and the "Silk Road Samarkand" project – the largest International Tourist Center in Central Asia.
The Deputy President of MATTA highly appreciated the tourism products of our country, represented by rich Uzbek culture, architectural heritage of Uzbekistan, amazing nature, centuries-old Uzbek traditions of hospitality and Uzbek national cuisine. The Deputy President also noted the need to develop and launch targeted marketing campaigns for Malaysian consumers in partnership with local large advertising agencies by the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan.
A presentation of direct charter flights of Malaysia Airlines and the Uzbek tour operator Osmon Aero between the cities of Tashkent and Kuala Lumpur, launched on July 9 with the support of the Embassy of Uzbekistan, was also held in the course of the meeting.
The Malaysian side expressed its readiness to promote tourist destinations of Uzbekistan on the virtual platform "MATTAonline.travel". The possibilities of this web service for the sale of their products by tour operators to final consumers-travelers ("B2C" - Business-to-consumer) are presented.
Taking into account the fact that only Malaysian companies can participate in this online platform, MATTA urged tour operators of Uzbekistan and MATTA members to develop joint tour packages by considering the needs and interests of the Malaysian market and actively use the new platform to promote them.
As a result of the event, agreements were reached on intensifying direct partnerships between the travel companies of Uzbekistan and Malaysia, as well as the participation of tour operators of Uzbekistan in the tourist fair "MATTA FAIR 2022" on September 2-4 in Kuala Lumpur. At the same time, Malaysian tour operators will participate in the Tashkent International Tourism Fair on November 16-18 this year.
