The annual International Travel Trade show ITB Berlin-2023 took place in Germany from 7 March through 9 March this year. Our country also participated in the fair and presented its tourism opportunities and new travel destinations.
The Uzbek delegation was presented by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Uzbekistan, SUE "National PR Centre", JSC "Uzbekistan Airways", the management of the newly established tourist complex "Silk Road Samarkand", and a number of travel companies of Uzbekistan.
Uzbekistan has been regularly participating in the annual International Tourism Exhibition ITB Berlin since 2009 until today.
Besides introducing the rich historical and cultural heritage of our country, ancient monuments and cities of Uzbekistan worth visiting, colorful traditions and national Uzbek costumes to the international audience, new tourist destinations and tourist products of Uzbekistan were also presented to visitors and participants of the fair.
Of course, representing Uzbekistan to foreigners without offering the delicious traditional dish Uzbek pilaf, a traditional rice with meat, which has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, would be unimaginable.
Within the framework of the event, Uzbekistan had meetings and negotiations with international travel companies, mass media agencies and channels, German tourist authorities and organizations. As a result of the held business meetings, agreements with BBC News TV Channel, Lonely Planet publishing company, IPD – Import Promotion Desk, Dudes.com, Amadeus and others were signed with the aim of promoting Uzbekistan’s tourism potential on an international level. Cooperation with internationally famous organizations is surely expected to increase the flow of tourists visiting Uzbekistan, traveling to Uzbekistan’s tourist destinations, including Samarkand, Bukhara, Shahrisabz, Khiva and others.
In addition to the abovementioned global agencies, Uzbekistan also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the German Travel Association, aimed at strengthening cooperation between Uzbekistan and Germany in the field of tourism, boosting the tourist image of Uzbekistan in the German market, as well as European countries.
ITB Berlin is the world’s leading travel trade show, which has been held since 1966. The ITB Berlin Convention is the largest platform for international tourism representatives, where major negotiations and business meetings are held, and memorandums and agreements are signed.
