In a prestigious ceremony held yesterday in Malaysia's capital, Uzbekistan was recognized as the top travel destination in Asia for 2024. The award was presented at an annual event organized by the Research House of Asia Media, a prominent Malaysian media company specializing in research on entrepreneurship and tourism in the Asian region. The ceremony also celebrated achievements in various sectors based on extensive sociological and marketing studies.
The event brought together government officials from Malaysia, representatives from over 20 Asian countries, and key figures from the business and media sectors of Southeast Asia.
Our country was honored in the "Best Destination of the Year" category, specifically for its exceptional architectural heritage of Uzbekistan, such as the cities of Samarkand, Bukhara, and Khiva. The country’s Ambassador to Malaysia, Karomidin Gadoev, received the award on behalf of Uzbekistan.
During the award presentation, it was highlighted that Uzbekistan is home to five UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including the ancient cities of Samarkand, Bukhara, and Khiva. These cities, renowned for their historical buildings, were once major scientific and cultural hubs of the East. The award recognized the country’s successful efforts in preserving its cultural and architectural identity, which continues to attract tourists visiting Uzbekistan from all over the world.
Other countries recognized in the "Top 10 of Asia" awards included Lebanon, known for its national cuisine; Jordan, celebrated for its archaeological heritage; Kuwait, praised for its commitment to sustainable development; Indonesia, acknowledged for its rapidly growing economy; and Tajikistan, honored for its natural resources.
