The delegation of Uzbekistan, headed by the Chairman of the Tourism Committee of the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change Umid Shadiev, who was on a visit to London, held meetings in a number of ministries and organizations in Great Britain.
In particular, negotiations took place with the leadership of the UK Ministry of Culture, Media and Sport, Birmingham University College, the Association of Travel Agencies, the Bloomberg Media television corporation and the largest tour operators.
During the meetings, information was provided about the tourism potential of Uzbekistan, such as the historical sites of Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva and other attractions, the conditions created for local and foreign tourists traveling in Uzbekistan, tourism infrastructure, as well as reforms carried out in this area in our country in order to provide high quality services for tourists visiting Uzbekistan.
At the meeting held at the Ministry of Culture, Media and Sports, the parties exchanged views on the prospects for further development and expansion of cooperation in the field of tourism, discussed issues of developing mutual cooperation in the field of tourism, improving the bilateral regulatory framework in these areas, increasing the flow of British tourists traveling to Uzbekistan and vice versa.
The issues of holding joint seminars on tourist destinations of Uzbekistan and Great Britain for representatives of the tourism sector of Uzbekistan, organizing internships for teaching staff and students at Birmingham University College and exchanging experience in the field of training specialists in the field were also discussed.
The parties agreed to continue contacts in order to discuss practical measures to realize the existing potential for expanding cooperation in the above areas.
As a result of negotiations with tour operators, specific agreements were reached on promoting the tourist destinations of Uzbekistan in the UK in order to increase the flow of British tourists taking a tour to Uzbekistan this year.
At the same time, we would like to remind you that a total of 93 countries can visit Uzbekistan on a visa-free basis today, which makes it even more attractive to travel to Uzbekistan, The countries that are able to visit Uzbekistan without obtaining a visa cover all EU member states and the UK.
