Uzbek Tourism Committee will support investors of “Halal Tourism”

Information and Mass Media Communication Agency held a press conference with representatives of the Uzbek State Committee for Tourism Development on 18 August. The subject of Halal Tourism, aimed at Muslim tourists, which enables them to have a vacation according to Islamic norms, was one of the topics discussed at the press conference.

“There is an international experience on opening recreational facilities and centers that meet all requirements of local and foreign tourists. For example, such countries as Turkey, Malaysia and Indonesia do apply the current experience. At the same time, not only Muslims but also families who wish to have a vacation with separate recreational units for men and women will be able to use the current type of tourism for their family holidays.

Implementation of these kinds of requirements will be organized mainly based on the business-plans of investors, as well as market demands. Accordingly, these centers intended for the Muslim category of tourists or those categories preferring the mentioned conditions for a vacation could be created in the areas of Bostanlik and Tudakul. The State Committee for Tourism Development will provide support in this regard together with the international organization CrescentRating, located in Singapore” – quoted by Saidkamol Kholhujaev, an expert on pilgrimage tourism.

The deputy chairman of the committee Fahriddin Davrukov added that at least 30% of accommodation units in Uzbekistan hotels have been required to create conditions matching Muslim tourists’ recreation.

CrescentRating International Agency is one of the biggest expert organizations in the world “Halal” tourism market. The agency has been announcing the rating of the “Global Muslim Travel Index” since 2015. The rating evaluates the services offered for Muslim tourists based on more than 40 types of criterion.

Last year Uzbekistan took up a position in the top 10 as one of the most convenient countries for female Muslim travelers in the report of the Financial Organization “Mastercard” and the CrescentRating Agency.
