The Transport Minister of Uzbekistan: The airport services will be cheaper for 20% on average

The Minister mentioned that transport authorities will start controlling the jet fuel prices are not higher than the average rates in the region.

Today Uzbekistan has significantly decreased the jet fuel rate and 1 ton is about 880 USD. The Transport Minister of Uzbekistan Elyor Ganiev told that Uzbekistan’s government is going to keep working on decreasing the jet fuel rate to make it more affordable.

Launching the new project UZBEKISTAN GTL is going to be the significant element of the jet fuel market. The specialized enterprise of the project will start operating until then. UZBEKISTAN GTL’s projected capacity is about 1 million 700 tons of fuels of various types, such as diesel, petrol and jet fuel.

“I can say with confidence that after launching the current production line, we will not have any problems with jet fuel. Unfortunately, its production for today is not enough in order to provide UZBEKISTAN AIRWAYS and UZBEKISTAN AIRPORTS in full volumes, due to which we still have to keep importing the fuel” – quoted by Elyor Ganiev.

However, even under these conditions, the government was still able to decrease the prices as minimum for 120-140 USD, which creates great opportunities for healthy competition in the market. At the same time, the Ministry will take care of reducing the so-called “airport royalties” in the soonest time.

“This is a pretty big amount of money, and we are planning to cut it down as low as to 20% at least. Thus we will be able to achieve the airport services are cheaper for 20%. This will ensure that our airports become more attractive for the passenger carriers, as well as the cargo transporters. We will create conditions, where Uzbekistan will become an extremely attractive destination for people” – said the Minister.
