On the shores of the picturesque Lake Kel-Suu, a unique festival titled "The Miracle of Kel-Suu" took place, drawing a multitude of guests eager to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of traditional Kyrgyz culture—both local residents and tourists from Kazakhstan, Russia, and European countries. This was reported by the Foundation for the Support of Tourism Development in the Kyrgyz Republic.
The festival was held for the first time, but its organizers—the administration of the At-Bashinsky District and the "At-Bashi" destination—plan to make it an annual event.
"The highlight of the festival program was a demonstration of hunting with golden eagles and hawks, performances by taigan hounds, and archery. Equally thrilling were traditional games, such as tug-of-war. The air temperature was minus thirty degrees Celsius, but the cold was no obstacle for the participants and guests of the festival. They fully appreciated the vibrant concert featuring musical performances and ice dancing, the recitations of manaschi (epic storytellers), and the culinary tour, where festival-goers had the opportunity to savor dishes of Kyrgyz cuisine," the foundation shared.
The foundation also noted that law enforcement ensured compliance with safety measures and the rules for visiting Lake Kel-Suu. Medical personnel, emergency services, and representatives of the environmental and technical oversight service under the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic were on duty throughout the festival grounds.
As emphasized by the foundation, special attention was paid to adhering to environmental standards. New visitation rules have already been implemented to protect the lake's ecosystem—visitors are only allowed in organized groups and must be accompanied by guides.
