Press tour to Uzbekistan: Spanish journalists discover historical and architectural treasures Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva.
A group of Spanish journalists representing leading Spanish publications such as El Mundo, Viajes National Geographic, El Periódico Cataluña, Hola Viajes, La Razón and ABC visited Uzbekistan as part of a press tour on 18-25 September 2024.
The purpose of the press tour to Uzbek cities was to get acquainted with the cultural heritage and tourism opportunities of the country. The tour to Uzbekistan was organized by the Tourism Committee with the assistance of the Embassy of our country and the operator company "Air Marakanda".
The tour program to Uzbekistan for Spanish journalists was organized in a rich and varied format: the group visited the historical cities of Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva, which are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The journalists were amazed by the pearls of the Great Silk Road, such as ancient Uzbek architecture, rich and colorful Uzbek traditions, unique culture and of course delicious Uzbek food.
During their trip to Samarkand, the journalists not only got acquainted with the cultural and historical sights of the city, but also visited the new modern Samarkand International Airport. This modern aviation hub became an important part of the trip to Uzbekistan, demonstrating the high level of infrastructure created for comfortable service of tourists visiting Samarkand, or traveling to Uzbekistan through Samarkand. Samarkand International Airport served many international flights from various destinations of the world today.
Ancient city of Bukhara was remembered by the guests for its mosques, minarets and oriental bazaars. As part of the visit to Bukhara, the journalists got acquainted with folk crafts and even participated in master classes on making traditional Uzbek ceramic products and Uzbek silk carpets.
Trip to Khiva, with its ancient fortresses and labyrinths of narrow streets, became a real discovery for the press. Many noted the unique combination of a medieval oriental city and modern amenities created for tourists visiting Khiva. While staying in Khiva, the Spanish journalists also attendeded a festival dedicated to Uzbek music and dance, which allowed them to get to know national traditions better.
Special attention was paid to the gastronomic culture of Uzbekistan offering delightful Uzbek food for tourists traveling to Uzbekistan’s various cities. Journalists tried Uzbek traditional dishes and were also able to observe the process of cooking Uzbek pilaf, which is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The journalists noted the enormous potential of Uzbekistan for the development of tourism. They expressed a desire to share their impressions with Spanish readers, emphasizing that our country is a unique travel destination, promoting Spanish citizens to plan a trip to Uzbekistan for all its treasures and heritage.
