A roundtable titled "Uzbekistan - The Pearl of the Silk Road: Opportunities for Cultural and Historical Tourism" was recently held at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Warsaw.
The event aimed to encourage collaboration between Polish travel agencies and Uzbekistan, positioning Uzbekistan as an attractive destination for cultural and historical tourism sites, such as Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva and others.
Key participants included representatives from prominent Polish travel companies such as "Aviareps," "ITAKA," and "TravelReps." Notable honorary guests included Janusz Piechociński, President of the Poland-Asia Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and historian and cultural expert Igor Stroetsky.
During the roundtable, discussions focused on promoting Uzbek tourist sites to Polish agencies, enhancing conditions to boost tourist visiting Uzbekistan from Poland, and developing collaborative tourism products. The importance of strengthening cultural ties and exchanging experiences in tourism between the two nations was also highlighted.
Information was shared about Uzbekistan’s cultural and historical tourism offerings, including major tourist routes through the cities of Samarkand, Bukhara, and Khiva. Attendees were briefed on the introduction of the Uzbek visa-free regime for citizens from 93 countries, the launch of direct flights between Warsaw and Tashkent, and ongoing investments aimed at modernizing the country’s tourism infrastructure.
Janusz Piechociński, President of the Poland-Asia Chamber of Commerce, emphasized that working with Uzbekistan presents promising opportunities for Polish tourism, particularly through the development of joint tourism routes and promoting the Great Silk Road brand.
Cultural expert Igor Stroetsky showcased his photo archive, "Uzbekistan Yesterday and Today," offering guests a deeper insight into the country’s heritage.
The event concluded with a tasting of traditional Uzbek cuisine, providing the guests with an opportunity to further immerse themselves in Uzbekistan’s rich cultural legacy.
The participants expressed strong interest in fostering collaboration and committed to working together on tourism initiatives that could enhance mutual travel exchanges, which would indeed increase the number of Polish travelers visiting Uzbekistan.
