6th to 10th September the second annual Feast of the Atlas will be held in Margelan (Ferghana Valley). Margelan is historical centre of production of multicolored silk fabric, so called khan atlas. Made from silkworm cocoon, Uzbek traditional khan atlas is famous with its cheerful rainbow pattern. The main purpose of the festival is to preserve and promote the cultural heritage of Uzbekistan, provide support for the development of traditional crafts and to improve the quality and design of traditional products, as well as the development of sustainable tourism in the Ferghana Valley.
